Hi there! I’m Robert Dodge (but everyone calls me Bob), the guy behind House Design Ideas. I’m also a semi-retired house flipper, cinephile, and University of Arizona alum (go Wildcats!).

Right out of college, I worked for CBRE and then Deloitte. After spending 20 years in various consulting firms, I left that career to turn my DIY construction hobby into a serious house flipping business.

I’ve always been handy with tools and loved building things. Back in 2009, I started fixing up and flipping houses on the side, and by 2015, I took the plunge and made it my full-time gig.

When COVID hit, I decided it was time for a change. I wrapped up my flipping business (walking away with a pretty nice nest egg!) and semi-retired.

These days, I still keep my hands dirty with a few fun remodeling projects, but most of my time goes into running this blog.

Nothing makes me happier than sharing what I’ve learned over the years.

House Design Ideas is where I report on the latest home design trends, offer practical advice for DIY enthusiasts, and showcase inspiring spaces.

I started this blog because I believe everyone deserves a beautiful, functional home; without breaking the bank. My goal is simple: to give you ideas and know-how that you can actually use, explained in a way that makes sense.
