The Watervilla, a project of Water Studio is a modern floating glass house situated in Netherlands. With the foot of the 1st floor level with the surface, and the ground floor beneath this home sits firmly on the surface of the water. It’s made mostly out of glass, with almost each and every space on the ground floor with great views of the river. The views can be enjoyed from the large roof terrace too, a truly wonderful place to revitalize after a long day. Beneath the ground floor is one bathroom and bedrooms. This house design has definitely taken on modern building techniques, with the complex layouts, wide use of glass, rustic features and a flat roof.

A project of +31ARCHITECTS, this contemporary houseboat resides in the Amstel river of Amsterdam. The design features, unlike majority of floating homes, a quite modern design without losing the typical look of a standard houseboat. Clients get plenty of positive reactions, it evens happens that tourists who pass by boat knock on the windows and ask whether they can enter the house. WaterSpace, the UK manufacturer that gave us the H2Office, a purpose-built floating office, is working on one other unique project by the name ‘Floating Studio Flat.’ It’s being designed as a one bedroom studio apartment that will be used mostly in inland waterways. The floating dwelling, in a variety of floor plans, will feature an upper sun/drinks deck, wet room, kitchen and bedroom. The clients can opt for like integrated solar panels and a wind turbine in order to cut down energy consumption costs.

The focus of this interesting living-on-water project is to have fun homes across the fluvial surroundings of Barcelona. Self-efficient apartment units measuring 484 sq ft which are solar-powered and totally energy self-efficient are good enough to dot the landscape. The basic premise is to use one single multifunctional open space which gets partitioned into the deck, bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room. This modular houseboat actually features a studio apartment vibe, albeit on the river. Proposed to be sold at $105,000 per unit, it is a playground for the superstars.
