The Mann House, a project of BVN Architecture, is a modern open space holiday home situated on a ridge which overlooks Paroa Bay. The simple one storey glass home is surrounded by acres of stunning environment and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean as well as nearby islands, which include Motuarohia—it was the very first strip of land in the New Zealand which Captain James Cook set foot on in the Eighteen Century. Projected on an elevated slope, this house is made from steel beams which hold up the building at angles and that run through the structure in order to provide ceiling support.

Housing manufacturer from Canada, Meka was launched by 3 friends – a developer, designer and an architect, planning to create perfectly projected prefab housing units which could be inexpensive. Beyond plans for traditional prefabricated reasoning, and after much market research, these guys found plenty of good examples from which to compare & take into consideration. All four models of their prefab homes shown below are well insulated R40 in the floors walls & roofs. These houses can be placed even in cold climates and of course moderate to hot climates. The insulation will be perfect for most climate conditions.

La Cornette is a beautiful country house open to the pastoral landscape which surrounds it. Under a soaring roof is a spacious dwelling modeled on classical Quebec homes of old which lodged big families and close relatives. This holyday home is meant for a couple of families. It’s set into the uneven terrain in such a way that brings each level into direct contact with the outdoors. It’s a wonderful revitalizing place for all visitors under its big gable in a series of bedrooms and interesting sleeping quarters. This home is modern in its use of materials and classical in its morphology. Photographs: Loukas Yiacouvakis & Francis Pelletier
